Makeshift Miracle was originally an online comic and later on published in English by Udon Entertainment in 2006 in full color and hardcover binding. It was written by Jim Zub and illustrated by Shun Hong Chan.
The story revolves around the two main characters, Colby, a disillusioned boy and the mysterious girl named Iris. Just like a dream the plot is a little confusing and full of magical events.
The water color illustrations are astoundingly beautiful however I felt like the characters are not well build up and develop throughout the story. The twist in the end of the story is done well and this book was a good short read.
Makeshift Miracle Book 1: The Girl from Nowhere
A young boy named Colby Reynolds searches for meaning in the world around him and discovers a place where dreams can come true — if he’s willing to pay the price!
Along the way he’ll see sights he’s never fathomed and encounter hidden truths about himself he’ll wish he never knew.
Makeshift Miracle Book 2: The Boy Who Stole Everything
Colby has fallen into a surreal realm of dream and imagination in his search for answers about Iris, the strange girl who fell into his life from out of the blue. What he discovers about the link between them will change both their lives and leave one of them with the ultimate decision of life or death.
“Barrage” is a two volume Manga, written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the popular Shonen Manga, “My Hero Academia”.
The story is about Astro who has been mistaken as the Prince of Industria (named Barrage) due to his resemblance to the real prince. After the Prince has been killed by accident, he was asked to replace him as his appearance and voice is exactly the same as the Prince. Astro is taking care his fellow orphans that’s why he agreed to be the Prince in exchange of shelter and food for them. With the help of a loyal knight named Tiamat, Astro who is now Barrage was able to save the city using a weapon called Orgue, which has the power strong enough to save a planet. In the end of the story, it is revealed on why and how he can use the Orgue even though he didn’t came from the royal family.
The story is straightforward and clear but unlike My Hero Academia, the excitement it gives was not enough for the readers to look forward for the next chapters. Maybe that’s the reason why the Manga got cancelled at chapter 16. The story and art was good but the action was a lackluster. It has interesting characters that gives off a little vibe of MHA characters. Overall “Barrage” is a decent read especially for those who’s looking for short adventure manga.

Astro and his loyal knight Tiamat’s wild adventure of freeing Industria from alien invaders gets a lot more complicated in the city of Maseille.
